Jim and Barbara

Like many families during this pandemic, Jim and Barbara have been struggling to make ends meet. Barbara has many health issues, and Jim’s hours at work have been limited because of COVID-19. Their income hasn’t been enough to meet their needs.

Additionally, the couple helps their son by watching their grandchildren while he works. Even though the grandkids don’t live with Jim and Barbara, they spend a great deal of time at the couple’s house. COVID-19 was already putting a strain on their finances. Having the grandchildren over so often was an additional strain.

Compassionate volunteers in the Clearinghouse spoke to Jim and Barbara to determine their situation and needs through the intake process. To start with, they sent Barbara to Faith Presbyterian Church’s Personal Care Ministry to get personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies. Next they were provided information on the nearby food pantries in the area that were remaining open through the worst of the pandemic. After this, the problem of their need for a dryer was addressed. At the time, the Furniture and Appliance Ministry had shut down due to COVID-19, and Barbara was told she would get the dryer as soon as it reopened.

It was thrilling when this day finally came and the dryer was delivered to the couple’s home. When Site Visit Volunteers had visited prior to dropping off dryer, they found various problems within the home. Jim and Barbara had not been able to keep up with the repairs. Skilled volunteers from the Handyman Ministry from North Lake Presbyterian Church will help with the repairs as soon as possible.

Many volunteers with varied gifts are necessary for Love INC to serve Jim and Barbara. Your generous time, monetary, and material donations provide the vital resources. These are used to improve their physical situation. More importantly they receive an outpouring of love from each volunteer they come into contact with. This communicates their worth as a person made in the image of God.
