Debra and Paul have a blended family. Between them they have 6 kids ranging in age from 1 to 13.

Paul recently lost his job due to lack of business caused by COVID. Paul had been looking for a job but hadn’t found one yet.  He had applied for unemployment but it hadn’t come through. Debra is a stay at home mom who takes care of all 6 kids.  They had been trying to stretch their budget as best they could. Their money ran out and they were having a hard time paying their bills.

Debra heard about Love INC and called the Clearinghouse. She was desperate for any help she could get.

One important way a Clearinghouse Volunteer shows the love of Christ is to listen. Once Debra had a chance to tell her the entire situation, the Volunteer gave them information on local food pantries – Hope Lutheran Church Lake Weir, Christian Food Pantry, and St. Timothy’s Catholic Church’s St. Vincent de Paul Society. They were also given the information for the Infant and Toddler Pantry at The Congregational Church. There they got diapers and wipes for their two youngest children. This helped meet their urgent needs.

Next, after the verification process was completed, Debra and Paul were set up with appointments at the Personal Care Ministry at Faith Presbyterian Church and Angel’s Touch Clothing Pantry at Lady Lake United Methodist Church.

This is a beautiful example of how much can be done by working together! Each of these ministries is located at a different church. Each is staffed by volunteers who delight to help others. As each one does their part, the result is that Debra and Paul feel their worth. They are shown that they are valuable to God and to us!

However, meeting immediate needs is only the first step. A step we hope will open the door to a lasting relationship with them. The goal for them is not to only meet their material needs. The ultimate goal for Debra and Paul is life transformation. In her first contact with Love INC, Debra was told about the Life Skills Courses at Tri County Baptist Church. She was interested and she and Paul hope to attend them in person or online soon.
