Gary

Gary felt adrift and alone.

He works hard, but doesn’t quite make ends meet every month. He and his wife recently split and they share custody of their young daughter. Gary reached out to Love INC on the recommendation of a volunteer.

When he went through the intake process, he admitted that he has made poor decisions in the past. He expressed that he hoped that through Love INC, he could have guidance on how to go forward. He desired life change. One thing Gary hoped to do is to get a second job at a grocery store to make extra money.

A material thing he really needed help with was a washer and dryer for his new apartment.  Site Visit volunteers met Gary at his home. They found a neat, clean and organized apartment. Thanks to generous donations, the volunteer truck team delivered a washer and dryer.  Gary was so thankful and happy. He said the delivery men were wonderful and the washer and dryer work great!

Although meeting material needs such as a washer and dryer are important, the hope for Gary is for Love INC to help facilitate the life change he wants. The best way for that to happen is for him to attend the Transformational Ministry (T4M) classes held at Tri County Baptist Church on Tuesday evenings. The program offers a wide range of topics to help people grow past things that have held them back in the past. One of the biggest benefits is the relationships volunteers are able to build with them. True transformation comes in sharing life week by week and getting to know a person’s specific needs. T4M is the perfect environment for that type of relationship. He could also connect with a mentor if he wanted to, which would give him a more personalized and focused approach to life change.
