“Our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it…All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” ~ 1 Corinthians 12:18, 27

Jody has worked with Love INC in the past, but she hadn’t reached out since 2017. We decided to call and check in with her. Things aren’t going very well. Jody carries a heavy burden.

Her husband is disabled and has been for 12 years. Their two adult sons live with them. In addition to that, one of the sons has a girlfriend and 10 month old daughter that live there. One son works and the other can’t get a job. Jody also drives her mother-in-law to radiation treatments.

Community came together to show Jody Love In the Name of Christ. Clearinghouse Volunteers determined her needs through compassionate listening. Then Jody was referred to several different Gap Ministries to help lighten her load.

To help with the granddaughter, Jody was told about the Infant and Toddler Pantry at The Congregational Church. To help with her husband’s medical needs, Jody was referred to the Medical Ministry at First Baptist Church of Summerfield. She requested bandages, and the Medical Ministry put together a bag of band-aids, gauze and other items she needed.

She was also told about Hope Lutheran Lake Weir’s food pantry where she can get food and personal hygiene products.

Jody needs varied types of support. The way everyone took a portion of her load is an excellent example of the body of Christ coming together to meet her needs as she holds her family together.
