Jules + Doug

With some phone calls, the Clearinghouse struggles a great deal to untangle all the challenges the client faces in order to see how to best help them.

Jules and Doug have just such a situation. Imagine yourself in their shoes for a moment.

Jules and Doug moved to Florida last year to help her daughter, who has breast cancer. They all share one car, but live in separate apartments.

When Jules first reached out to Love INC, she had been served with an eviction notice. She was able to get help from the Salvation Army for one month but she still needed help with the current month.

Jules works for a travel company from home full time and Doug is on disability. Combined their income just doesn’t go far enough to meet their needs. Doug is physically able – and willing – to work part-time, but he is 70 and has a record. He can’t drive at night, so he has struggled to find a job.

Jules and Doug had some specialized needs that Love INC cannot help with, such as help with rent. But volunteers did what they could. They gave resources to help Doug try to get help with the rent, and to try to find a job. Jules and Doug went to the Personal Care Ministry at Faith Presbyterian Church. Volunteers from Fairway Christian Church, Faith Presbyterian Church, Grace Tabernacle, Christ Lutheran Church, North Lake Presbyterian Church and St. George Episcopal Church continued to check in with Jules and Doug and see how everything was going. Volunteers prayed with and for them.

Recently when a Clearinghouse Volunteer checked in, she learned Doug got a job working from home. They are now stabilized and doing well.

Lots of organizations give “stuff”. Love INC is bringing caring, loving, trained Christians alongside individuals whose most basic need is for someone to love them and to ultimately share Christ with them. The role of Love INC is not to replace the Church but to help churches distribute their skills, gifts, resources, and love to communities in need – In the Name of Christ. YOU are making this possible for Jules and Doug – and others like them – with your investment.
