a single mom + you

Pam is a resilient and independent single mother who recently found herself in a difficult situation.

When her living situation became toxic and unbearable, she had to move out into a new place alone. She managed to make the move, all while working full time from home and homeschooling her four children. Although she did manage the move and associated costs, she did not have everything she needed to set up her new place and could not afford to buy it all. She reached out to Love In the Name of Christ to ask for help.

When she called the Clearinghouse, a Volunteer Receptionist from Grace Tabernacle answered the phone. She listened to Pam’s story, and got to know a little about her strengths and struggles. This volunteer found that Pam does not get any assistance from the father of her children. She also learned that Pam values her ability to provide for her children, and has a very positive mindset.

Once the Intake and Verification Process was completed, two volunteers from North Lake Presbyterian Church went to Pam’s house to do a Site Visit. They discovered that Pam was hoping to get a kitchen table and chairs so she and the children could eat dinner together. She also needed a couple of dressers so the children have a place to store their clothing.

The Delivery Team, which included a volunteer from First Baptist Church at The Villages, delivered these items to Pam and children. The apartment now has a place where they can do their schoolwork and eat meals together, and dressers for the children.

Pam was still working with the Clearinghouse when Christmas was approaching. The recent move drained Pam’s resources and she was not going to have the means to provide Christmas gifts for her children. She could not attend Journey INC classes due to transportation issues, but Pam and her children were still able to receive Christmas Blessings through the generosity of the Church, coming together, through the generous donations YOU provided.

Pam expressed her gratitude to the Clearinghouse Coordinator during a follow up phone call. She said, “Thank you, and we’re grateful for being able to have people to lend a hand and help us out in a time of need.”
