James is familiar with struggle and grief.

He is a veteran and has been a widower for 20 years, and his daughter died six years ago. With no friends or family, he had been living with another veteran. Unfortunately, his roommate was unable to pay his part of the rent and they were evicted from the apartment. James ended up living in a shed with no running water or facilities.

That is where he was when Lucy met him through an acquaintance. Lucy was moved with compassion for James. She brought him into her house to live temporarily, became his Power of Attorney and Medical Surrogate, and got him registered at the VA. Because living with her was not a permanent option, she found him a mobile home to move into.

James did not have any furniture for his new place, and could not afford to purchase it. Lucy reached out to Love INC. Because of YOU – generous volunteers and donors, and local churches that partner with Love INC – the Furniture and Appliance Ministry was able to provide and deliver all the items he needed to set up his new home.

James received the material items he needed to get through his current crisis. He also met volunteers from several local churches throughout the Intake & Verification process and the delivery of his furniture. Your investment makes it possible for James and others like him to be supported in the moments they need it the most.
