Kay

Kay has been volunteering for Love In the Name of Christ for quite a while.

During her time here, she has worn many hats. From volunteering in the Clearinghouse to more recently volunteering as a mentor for our transformational ministry program Journey, Ms. Kay has done it all. She is well loved by so many; clients and fellow volunteers alike. And her bond with her Journey mentee, Nola, has bloomed into the most beautiful friendship.

Unfortunately a few months back, Kay endured some health complications which caused her to miss our weekly Journey classes. The Journey team and clients began fervently praying for a full recovery for Kay and a quick return to class.

Nola even went so far as to call Love INC during the week to check on Kay’s condition. But it was during this time, while Kay was trying to heal and take care of herself that she only thought about Nola. Recovering on her own, she called Love INC to see how Nola was doing in class. She asked if she was being well taken care of. How are her children? And most importantly she wanted Nola to know how much she missed her during her absence.

This is the power of the relationships formed at Journey. Kay didn’t care much about how she was hurting, she cared about Nola. Our Journey clients are more than a number to us. They are more than a casual story you hear in passing.

Kay and all of our mentors understand how precious these lives are, and how important their relationships are with them. Kay is one of many who go above and beyond for the people they serve.

How wonderful that God continues to send us volunteers ready to be the hands of feet of Christ! How beautiful are the relationships formed with those who desperately need a dose of that love!
