Walter and Josephine

Josephine and her husband Walter called in need of food.

Walter has been out of work for over a year after an injury on the job. He gets Worker’s Compensation for his injury. Josephine receives Social Security. Josephine and Walter work together to try to make ends meet, but these two income sources just do not cover all their expenses. Medical insurance, gas, and medical bills all add up to make it tight each month.

One of the ways the Clearinghouse Volunteers seek to help clients is by exploring their current situation to see if any adjustments can be made that can provide relief. Volunteers had several conversations with Walter and Josephine. With careful listening, they were able to make suggestions to lower some monthly expenses for them.

Another way they got relief in their budget is by visiting the Personal Care Ministry at Faith Presbyterian Church. They received a month’s supply of personal hygiene and cleaning products. They can now use the funds they would have spent on those items to cover a different expense. They are able to visit this Gap Ministry once a month if they choose to.

Love INC does not provide food for clients, but Josephine and Walter were given the information to two local food pantries hosted by churches – First Baptist Church of Belleview and St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Generous donations provided Josephine and Walter with much needed immediate relief for their situation. But that is only the stepping stone to the possibilities for the life transformation they can experience with your help! They were invited to attend Journey INC‘s upcoming class, Boundaries, and plan to attend. Because of investment in Love INC, Josephine and Walter will have the opportunity to go from striving to thriving. With a long term relationship, Journey INC volunteers can mentor them. This can help them overcome barriers and build a sustainable life. Then they can potentially help others to do the same.
