Sarah

Sarah’s son requires full time care due to his autism.

Because of this, Sarah is unable to work. She’s a single mother with one other child. Sarah makes ends meet between the disability benefits she receives for her autistic son, food stamps, and child support from the father of her children.

The autism causes some compulsive behavior, and Sarah’s son had picked at her couch to the point of ruining it. This was distressing because there simply isn’t extra to spend on furniture with the budget being so tight. Sarah reached out to Love INC to see if she could get a new couch.

When Site Visit volunteers met Sarah at her home to determine her exact needs, she expressed a desire to have a place where she and her children could sit and have dinner together. They had no table and chairs. As they walked through the house, the Site Visit volunteers noted several other items that Sarah and her children could use to make their house more of a home.

The Furniture and Appliance Ministry delivered a durable leather sofa that could withstand her son’s compulsive picking. They also brought a dining room table and chairs, a rug for the tile floor in the living room, two lamps and two dressers. This was abundantly more than Sarah could have asked or imagined when she first reached out to ask for the couch and she was grateful.

Generous donations make it possible for Sarah and her children to experience Love In the Name of Christ through the abundant provision of material items. But meeting material needs is only the first step. As always, the hope is that a relationship will begin through this provision and that this relationship is the beginning of transformation.
