About a year ago, Claire called Love INC.

She and her husband Matthew had unexpectedly become guardians for her two teenage nephews after their mother was deemed unfit. When it was just the two of them, they were able to get by financially. However, the addition of two teenagers stretched their budget to the point of needing help. Matthew picked up overtime whenever he could but it just wasn’t enough.

​When Claire reached out, she asked for help with food, utilities and clothing. The Clearinghouse Volunteer she spoke to listened with compassion to her story, then gave her the phone numbers to a couple of local food banks. This way, she could get immediate help with food. Once she went through the Intake and Verification process, the family was able to visit the Personal Care Ministry at Faith Presbyterian Church.

​While Love INC does not help with utilities, the hygiene and cleaning products they received from the Personal Care Ministry allowed them to use the funds they would have normally spent on those items to pay their utility bill. For the clothing needs, they went to Angel’s Touch at Lady Lake United Methodist Church. They could visit the Personal Care Ministry once a month and Angel’s Touch every three months. These Gap Ministries helped Claire’s family stabilize.

Recently, when a Clearinghouse Volunteer did a follow up to check in on the family, they learned that Claire and Matthew were in the process of getting a VA Loan to purchase the home they are living in. The oldest nephew is graduating this year. Matthew took a different job in the same facility, which gives him the opportunity to provide well while also being home with the family more.

Claire, Matthew and the boys had a moment of need. When they reached out for help, YOU were there to catch them. Your generous investment of time, funds and prayers ensured that the resources were available. Because of YOU, this family overcame a temporary obstacle that would have been difficult to overcome without your help. They stabilized and now have HOPE for the future, a hope that you made possible! Thank you for all you do to show Love In the Name of Christ to your neighbors.
